The laptop story

On a global scale, we all together produce some 50 million tonnes of electronic waste every year. And in for example the EU alone, 35 per cent of that waste is not recycled properly. Maybe one of the reasons is the complexity of electronic waste, as it normally contains many different kinds of materials. This is no good, as there already are processes to recycle electronics on the market.

It’s especially important to find ways to take care of the products that has a certain degree of complexity to them. Like, for example, your everyday laptop. As many electronics, a laptop contains several different types of valuable materials. To make sure that as little material as possible leaves the circular economy, the laptop needs to go through a series of recycling process steps. This is what should happen to the computer after it’s end-of-life. Something we call “The laptop story”.
