To achieve a sustainable future, 'Scaling up – for a new tomorrow' urges businesses to transition to a circular economy by maximizing existing resources, extending product lifecycles, and boosting recycling rates through the adoption of recycled and recyclable materials.

About Circular Initiative

The world as we know it has changed. The times are challenging, but also full of opportunities. Collaboration, innovation and technical development are more important than ever, not to mention concrete plans and bold goals.

Circular Initiative started with the realization that we now use more resources than the Earth can provide, and the desire to turn that around. We know, for a fact, that circular and sustainable material flows have a substantial impact on the climate. A quarter of our global annual emissions are directly connected to the production of materials.

We want to be part of the solution and improve the way we care for the Earth’s resources. To achieve that, we need to close the loop and keep products and materials within the system for as long as possible. The manufacturing industry can do more to prevent waste from being generated and make better use of the residual material that does arise at various production stages. With technological development and new, wider collaborations, resources can be preserved and more circular flows created.

Circular Initiative is an extraordinary event showcasing the power of circularity for business profitability. The main aims are to initiate collaboration, highlight common goals, and support cross-company actions that will turn circularity into profitable business, as well as guide future sustainable and prosperous endeavors.

The initiative is run by Stena Recycling, with collaborative partners from various industries, such as investment corporation Investor AB. We are very proud of all our collaborations and always happy to welcome new partners.

Do you want to join and help us grow the circle?

Collaboration for change

Kristofer Sundsgård, CEO of Stena Recycling Group

“No one can solve these challenges on their own. The whole idea with Circular Initiative is to raise awareness about the topic and share information and knowledge.”

Kristofer Sundsgård, CEO of Stena Recycling Group

Jacob Wallenberg, Chairman of Investor AB

Investor AB

“We have reached a point where society demands that the industry takes responsibility. If you don’t engage in sustainability issues, you will lose both customers and staff – you will not survive as a company. But if you properly address these issues, you will not only support global environmental goals – you will probably also do better business.”

Jacob Wallenberg, Chairman of Investor AB
